General Instructions,
- All participants should register for the Conference
- Only members of AOI State branches are permitted to participate in competitive sessions. They should enter their AOI State branch membership number in the form
- All postgraduate student should enclose a bonafide certificate from their HOD
- Participants of the scientific programme should carefully fill the Scientific Presentation Registration form completely which can be downloaded from the website
- Abstracts should be not more than 250 words long, formatted in MS Word, Times New Roman style and of font size 12 which should be sent by email to southzoneaoi09@yahoo.com
- Confirm participation for Scientific presentation before 10th September 2009
- Abstracts received after the last date will not be accepted under any circumstances
- The scientific committee reserves the right to formulate the rules and regulations for the smooth conduct of the competitive presentations
- The scientific committee reserves the right to scrutinize the papers and limit the number of presentations
- It also has the discretion to accept / reject papers
- All scientific presentations competing for the medal should contain only the presenter's name on the first slide with no mention of the name of institution, place, co-author or HOD anywhere in the presentation. Any violation will lead to rejection of the paper summarily. This is not applicable to general presentation not competing for the medal
- Various aspects like quality, content, relevance, timing and way of presentation will be considered during assessment
- The judges can disqualify a presentation if the presenter does not adhere to the rules
- The judges decision will be final and binding
- All the presenters should report to the convener before 11 AM on 9th October 2009 without fail
- Any clarifications can be obtained from the Conference Secretariat
- All correspondence should be addressed to the Organizing Secretary, Conference Secretariat
Prof. H. Kishore Chandra Prasad – Flixonase Quiz for postgraduate students
Teams from teaching institutions where DLO/MS/DNB programme is available are eligible to participate in the quiz. There can be one or two teams from each institution. Each team should have two members. Preliminary rounds will be conducted if necessary. The participating teams should be a registered delegate and should send the necessary forms duly endorsed by the HOD. The teams should report to the convenor before 12 Noon on 10th October 2009 at the Conference Venue. The format and the conduct of the quiz will be decided by the quizmaster whose decision is final.
Postgraduate Prize Paper
The papers presented can be a case series or an original paper or case reports. The time allotted for paper presentation is 5 minutes. There will be a single session of paper presentation by P.G's. from all South Zone states. The best presentation from the South Zone will bag the South Zone Gold medal and the highest scorer among Tamil Nadu presenters will get the Tamil Nadu Gold medal. If the presenter from Tamil Nadu tops the entire South Zone he will get the South Zone Gold medal and the next best presenter from Tamil Nadu will get the Tamil Nadu Gold medal.
Practising ENT Surgeons’ / Senior Consultants’ Prize Paper
The papers presented can be a case series or an original paper or case reports. The time allotted for the paper presentation is 5 minutes.
a. Senior Consultants’ Prize Paper is open to all South Zone states. The presenter must be a post MS / DNB / DLO with 10 years of standing in the field of ENT as a consultant / Practitioner / Assoc. Professor / Professor / Deputy Civil surgeon / Civil Surgeon etc. to be eligible for claiming the “AOI-AP Prize Medal for Senior Consultant”.
b. Practising ENT Surgeons’ Prize Paper is open to all South Zone states and the highest scorer among Tamil Nadu presenters will get the Tamil Nadu Gold medal. If the Presenter from Tamil Nadu tops the entire South Zone he will get the Gold medal and the next best presenter from Tamil Nadu will get the Tamil Nadu Gold medal.
Free Paper
Consultants / Post graduates can present any interesting case series, original paper or case reports for the presentation. The time allotted is 5 minutes. There will be a single session of paper presentation from all South Zone states. Free paper is open to all. However the medal is reserved for the highest scorer from Tamil Nadu.
Poster Presentation
Posters should be concise and the contents should be legible to the viewer. The size of the poster should not exceed 3' in breadth and 4' in height. As a guide, the poster should be viewed with clarity from a distance of 1.5m. A passport size photograph of the presenter fixed/printed on the poster is preferred. The posters are to be put up on the first day of conference using double sided adhesive tape or drawing pins brought by the delegates. Abstracts of the poster presentation are to be sent along with Scientific registration form, to reach the conference secretariat on or before 10th September 2009. Posters larger than 3' x 4' will not be accepted for presentation during the conference. The best poster will get the AOI South Zone 09 Prize.
Video Presentation
Registered Delegates (Consultants/Post graduates) may present interesting video presentations for 5 minutes or less. The video must be compatible with Windows Media Player. The CD containing the video clip must be handed over before 12 noon on 9th October 2009 to the organizing committee. The video presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. The best video presentation will get the AOI South Zone 09 Prize.
Innovations in ENT
Registered Delegates (Consultants/Post graduates) may present any interesting newer innovations for 5 minutes or less. The best presentation among Tamil Nadu presenters will get the prize.
This is one of the highlights of the conference. An eminent panel of international faculty will conduct instructional courses on various topics of interest covering the breadth of the speciality. This breakfast session will be conducted in all the three halls on days 2 & 3 from 8 AM to 9 AM. Only 25 delegates will be admitted per course. Delegates are requested to indicate the course of interest and the order of preference in the registration form. No additional payment is required for the instructional course. Pre registration is compulsory. Registration will be done on first come first served basis and will be intimated later.
